NFER launches enhanced support for APP
12 January 2010
NFER has improved its powerful formative e-assessment package, i-nfer plan, to make teachers’ Assessing Pupils’ Progress (APP) judgments more accurate and save them time.
The new report assists teachers in implementing APP by giving them robust evidence to support levelling judgements within APP Assessment focuses, and information collected over time assists periodic assessment. The data, collected from the i-nfer plan ‘challenges’, is laid out in a similar fashion to APP grids, and helps in class and school moderation.
As beneficial as APP is, many schools find it a complicated and time-consuming process; the new report is straightforward to use, saves time and makes the data more useful to them.
i-nfer’s Jon Williamson said: "The NFER believes that assessment should be used to improve pupils learning outcomes. i-nfer plan supports teachers in making APP levelling judgements, whilst also helping them to complete the Assessment for Learning cycle."
