NFER’s purpose is to provide independent evidence which improves education and training. As a charity we are always thinking about ways in which we can achieve this purpose.
NFER is evolving to meet the challenge of a rapidly changing educational and research environment. We are determined to be even more responsive to client needs and maintain our leading role in education and children’s services research.
We are broadening NFER’s activities to focus more attention on the use of evidence for improvement, taking a more proactive approach to setting the research agenda for education and children’s services - identifying the important research questions, seeking funders for the work and communicating the findings so that they make a real impact on policy and practice.
As part of our commitment to helping children and young people succeed and improve their educational outcomes, we have established NFER for schools. Working with schools as partners in research, we offer a range of products and services that will engage and excite pupils, while providing reports and information to help inform learning, teaching and assessment strategies. Every product associated with NFER for schools carries with it a stamp of high quality, backed by NFER’s research.
At the same time, contract research and assessment will continue to be of great importance to us. We are creating a more flexible response to external requirements, integrating our research activities to increase the range of skills and approaches that we can offer to each client.
Moving forward, NFER will be an even stronger organisation at the leading edge of research, with a continuing commitment to providing independent evidence which improves education and the life chances of learners in the UK and beyond.
